‘Showered with Compassion’ is inspired by reoccurring vivid dreams of being in a shower inviting us to be softer with ourselves. I would start out in a scene that reminded me of past experiences in which I carried a lot of shame and heaviness around. As the dreams progressed, I was taken into a room with massive showers that felt so serene, as though I could wash off or let go of these past experiences. Through dreamwork, I identified the symbolism of a shower as a place of cleansing, healing, and letting go of old perspectives and mindsets that no longer serve the person I am becoming to welcome in new ideas and ways of being. Past versions of myself often resorted to harsh critical inner dialogue and perfectionism to maintain a false sense of control, where rest meant that I was lazy, and taking time to slow down meant I was not doing enough.
